Terence Dores Cruz doet als promovendus aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam onderzoek naar de rol van roddelen en reputatie in samenwerking. In zijn promotietraject (supervisors Prof. Bianca Beersma en Dr. Romy van der Lee) beoogt Terence ten eerste te begrijpen waarom mensen roddelen, hierbij worden egoïstische en altruïstische motieven vergeleken. Ten tweede beoogt Terence te begrijpen hoe mensen reageren op roddels, hierbij wordt gekeken naar gedrag tegenover de roddelaar en de persoon waarover de roddel ging. Om deze vragen te beantwoorden maakt Terence gebruik van zowel experimentele studies als veldstudies en theorieën uit sociale, evolutionaire, en organisatiepsychologie.
Terence is de PhD-vertegenwoordiger bij het Kurt Lewin Instituut.
Terence Dores Cruz is a PhD Candidate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, who studies the role of gossip and reputation in cooperation. In his PhD project (supervisors Prof. Bianca Beersma and Dr. Romy van der Lee), Terence, first, aims to understand why people gossip, comparing proself and prosocial motives. Second, Terence aims to understand how people react to gossip, this involves looking at behavior towards the gossiper and the person the gossip was about. To answer these questions, Terence uses experimental studies as well as field studies and theories from social, evolutionary, and organizational psychology.
Terence is PhD representative for the Kurt Lewin Institute.
